Web hosting in Morocco: what it costs, which type to choose, and what people forget to check

Hosting is the computer your website runs on. It is often chosen last, at the lowest price, yet it decides whether the site opens fast on a phone over 4G or drives visitors away. Here is how to find your way, with prices charged in Morocco as of 1 November 2026.
The four kinds of hosting
- Shared: your site shares a server with others. It is the most common offer for a showcase site or a WordPress site. At Moroccan hosts, entry plans sit around 400 to 600 MAD a year.
- VPS or dedicated server: reserved resources, for a store with traffic or an application. More expensive, and someone has to run it.
- Built-in hosting: Shopify, YouCan or Wix host the site within the subscription. Nothing to manage, but you stay on their platform.
- Modern platforms for static sites (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages): very fast, with free tiers for a showcase site. It is what I use for custom sites, including this portfolio and a cardiology practice’s site in Casablanca.
What to check before paying
- The renewal price, not just the first year. Launch offers sometimes double after twelve months.
- An SSL certificate (https) included: without it, browsers show “not secure”.
- Backups: automatic, and easy to restore.
- Email: is it included, and how many mailboxes?
- Support: reachable, in your language, with stated response times.
- Real speed: test a site they already host with PageSpeed Insights, on mobile.
The rule: the hosting account is in your name, like the domain. Your provider can have access, not ownership.
Moroccan or foreign host?
A host in Morocco gives local support and billing in dirhams. An international host or a global platform often gives more speed, thanks to servers spread everywhere, including near your visitors.
One point not to forget: under law 09-08 on personal data, customer data stored on servers abroad counts as an international transfer, regulated by the CNDP. For a showcase site with no form, it rarely matters. For a site that collects data (bookings, customer accounts), and above all health data, check the steps with the CNDP before choosing.
The right choice for your site
- Custom showcase site: a modern static platform, fast and often free.
- WordPress site: good shared hosting, with backups and SSL included.
- Online store: the built-in hosting of Shopify or YouCan, nothing to run. See which platform for an online store.
- Application or heavy traffic: a VPS or a cloud service, with someone to run it.
Hosting comes on top of the domain name (see the .ma guide) and building the site (see how much a website costs in Morocco).
What next?
A fast site, hosted in your name
I launch sites with the hosting and the domain in the client’s name. See the website design page.
Sources: plans published by Moroccan hosts (for example Clouder and Heber-Net), checked on 1 November 2026; law no. 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, and CNDP decisions (cndp.ma). This article is not legal advice.
How it works
From one link to a site that brings clients.
One link and one line on what isn't working. No call needed to start.
Within 24 hours: the three things I would change first, the scope, the timeline and a price.
New pages around the action you want, a clickable version to test, then development.
Online, Search Console set up, Google Business linked, and the first pages written for real searches.
